Tiny heart monitor could predict heart failure Flare-Ups
NCT ID NCT06989580
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study is testing a special heart monitor, the BIOMONITOR IV, in 300 people with heart failure who also have irregular heartbeats. The device tracks heart activity, fluid levels, and breathing patterns to see if it can predict when heart failure gets worse. Researchers hope to develop an early warning system that helps doctors step in sooner and keep patients out of the hospital.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
BIOMONITOR IV implantable cardiac monitor with study software
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a predictive algorithm that alerts doctors early to worsening heart failure, potentially reducing hospital visits and deaths.
What could go wrong
This is an observational data-collection study, not a treatment trial. The algorithm may not prove accurate enough to change outcomes, and results may not apply to all heart failure patients.
