First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looks at how deep brain stimulation (DBS) changes the way people with Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, or dystonia pay attention and perceive emotions in others' faces. Researchers will track eye movements and ask participants to rate facial expressions before, during, and after DBS surgery. The goal is to understand how DBS affects attention and social perception, which could help improve treatment. About 138 people will take part, including healthy volunteers for comparison.
