Blood test may spot hidden clots in ICU patients

NCT ID NCT05855317

First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study involves 170 adults in intensive care with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), a severe lung condition. Researchers will take a blood sample to measure a clotting marker called EV-TF. They will then check if patients who develop a pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the lung) have higher levels of this marker. The goal is to see if a simple blood test can help predict dangerous clots in these critically ill patients.
