First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks at 958 adults with severe stroke who need a procedure to remove a blood clot from their brain. Researchers want to find out if being fully asleep (general anesthesia) or lightly sedated (procedural sedation) leads to better recovery and less disability three months later. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two anesthesia methods and followed during their hospital stay and by phone after three months.
