Smarter brain stimulation may give Parkinson's patients more good hours each day

NCT ID NCT06909045

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study compares two ways of using deep brain stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson's disease: standard continuous stimulation versus a newer adaptive version that adjusts in real time. About 130 adults who already have a DBS implant will be randomly assigned to one of the two methods. The main goal is to see if adaptive stimulation increases the number of hours per day that patients feel good and can move well without bothersome side effects.
