New scan could spot hidden tumors more accurately

NCT ID NCT03583528

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a new type of PET/CT scan, using a radioactive tracer called 68Ga-DOTATOC, can find neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) and similar tumors more safely and accurately than current imaging methods. About 800 people with known or suspected NETs will receive the scan, and researchers will compare results with standard imaging and pathology reports. The goal is to see if this scan can better detect tumors that have a high number of somatostatin receptors on their surface.
