3D ultrasound could help rescuers find the perfect CPR spot
NCT ID NCT07017075
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study uses a special 3D ultrasound probe placed in the throat to see inside the heart during CPR. Researchers want to find the best location on the chest to push, so blood flows better. They will test this in 50 adults who had a cardiac arrest outside the hospital.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
adjustment of CPR location
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help improve CPR techniques by identifying the most effective compression location, potentially increasing blood flow during cardiac arrest.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 50 participants. It focuses on measurement, not patient outcomes, so it may not directly improve survival. Results may not apply to all cardiac arrest cases.
