Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease
MONDO:0019088Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) is a polyclonal (benign) or clonal (malignant) proliferation of lymphoid cells that develops as a consequence of immunosuppression in a recipient of a solid organ or bone marrow allograft. PTLDs comprise a spectrum ranging from early, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-driven polyclonal lymphoid proliferations to EBV-positive or EBV- negative lymphomas of predominantly B-cell or less often T-cell type. (WHO, 2001)
Also known as: PTLD, post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder

New vaccine aims to stop Virus-Linked cancers in organ transplant patients
⭐️ VACCINE ⭐️ Recruiting nowThis early-stage trial tests a vaccine called OSU-2131, designed to help the immune system fight Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). EBV can cause cancers in people who have weakened immune systems, such as those awaiting organ transplants. The study includes healthy volunteers and transpl…

Cancer drug nivolumab takes on EBV-Linked tumors in new trial
Disease control Recruiting nowThis phase 2 trial tests whether the drug nivolumab can slow or stop the growth of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-positive lymphoproliferative disorders and non-Hodgkin lymphomas. About 40 people aged 12 and older whose cancers have not responded to standard therapy will receive nivolu…

Immune cells take aim at Post-Transplant virus
Disease control Recruiting nowThis early-stage study tests a new treatment using specially grown immune cells (EBV-AST cells) to fight EBV infections in people who have had a stem cell transplant. The trial will enroll 18 adults with persistent EBV in their blood. Researchers will test three different doses t…

Donor immune cells take on Virus-Linked cancer after transplant
Disease control Recruiting nowThis phase 3 trial tests tabelecleucel, a cell therapy made from donor immune cells, in 115 organ or stem cell transplant patients who developed a rare cancer (EBV+ PTLD) after standard treatment failed. The goal is to see if it can shrink tumors and improve outcomes. Participant…

New drug duo aims to tackle tough lymphoma in immunocompromised patients
Disease control Recruiting nowThis phase II trial tests whether combining epcoritamab (an immunotherapy that directs immune cells to kill lymphoma) with lenalidomide (which boosts the immune system) can shrink tumors in 34 patients whose immunodeficiency-related large B-cell lymphoma has not responded to trea…

Blood test may spare some transplant patients from chemo
Disease control Recruiting nowThis study tests whether a blood test (ctDNA) can help doctors choose the right treatment for people with a type of lymphoma that happens after an organ transplant (PTLD). About 30 participants will be split into low-risk and high-risk groups. Low-risk patients will get only the …

New immune cell therapy takes on virus after transplant
Disease control Recruiting nowThis early-phase study tests a new treatment for Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) that can occur after a stem cell transplant. The treatment uses specially engineered immune cells (EBV-TCR-T cells) to find and destroy virus-infected cells. Up to 18 adult patients who have persistent EBV …
