Kids with IBD: are they as fit as their healthy peers?
NCT ID NCT04647578
First seen Apr 22, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looked at physical fitness in 100 children and teens (ages 10-17) with chronic inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or unclassified colitis) and compared them to healthy kids of the same age, weight, and sex. Researchers measured cardiorespiratory fitness, muscle endurance, strength, speed, and flexibility to see if IBD affects fitness. The goal was to gather information, not to test a treatment.
