Modified virus targets Hard-to-Treat melanoma in early trial

NCT ID NCT03865212

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This early-phase trial tested a specially modified virus (VSV-IFNb-TYRP1) in 12 people with advanced melanoma that had spread or couldn't be removed. The virus was injected directly into tumors and into a vein to see if it could safely trigger the immune system to attack cancer cells. The study was stopped early, and its main goals were to find the best dose and check for side effects.
