Heart health doulas aim to lower blood pressure in new moms

NCT ID NCT05655936

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a specially trained doula to standard care helps new mothers with pregnancy-related high blood pressure improve their blood pressure one year after giving birth. About 454 women who had preeclampsia or similar conditions will be randomly assigned to usual care or usual care plus a heart health doula. The goal is to see if this extra support leads to better long-term heart health and reduces racial gaps in outcomes.
