New hope for fatty liver: a simple stomach tuck without surgery?

NCT ID NCT06138821

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests whether a minimally invasive procedure called endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) can help people with obesity and a serious liver condition called MASH. ESG reduces stomach size by about 70% using an endoscope, leading to significant weight loss. Researchers will compare ESG plus lifestyle changes to lifestyle changes alone in 132 adults to see if it can reverse liver damage without the need for lifelong medication.
