Freezing tumors could double pain relief for bone metastases patients

NCT ID NCT04693377

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding cryoablation (freezing cancer cells) to standard radiation therapy provides better pain relief for people with cancer that has spread to their bones. About 40 adults with advanced cancers like prostate, colorectal, or melanoma will be randomly assigned to get radiation alone or radiation plus cryoablation. The goal is to see if the combination reduces pain more effectively and for longer.
