First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This pilot study tests whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called rTMS can help reduce alcohol cravings in veterans who also have mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and/or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The study plans to enroll 20 veterans, with half receiving real rTMS and half receiving a placebo treatment over 10 sessions in 2 weeks. Researchers will track changes in alcohol craving and any side effects to see if this approach is worth studying further.
