Placental grafts show promise for stubborn ulcers
NCT ID NCT06562296
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether adding placental tissue grafts to standard wound care helps close diabetic foot and venous leg ulcers faster. 292 adults with nonhealing ulcers received either standard care alone or standard care plus a graft. The main goal was to see if more ulcers closed completely with the grafts.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a new option to help heal stubborn diabetic foot and leg ulcers more effectively.
What could go wrong
This is a completed Phase 4 trial, but results are not yet published. The grafts may not work better than standard care, and some people may have allergic reactions or infections.
