First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated Apr 26, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tested whether using warm saline (body temperature) to rinse the staple line during laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy reduces early bleeding compared to room-temperature saline. 200 adults having primary sleeve gastrectomy were randomly assigned to warm or standard irrigation. The goal was to see if this simple, low-cost change lowers bleeding complications within 48 hours after surgery.
