First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at whether eating walnuts can change the bacteria in your gut and reduce signs of colon cancer risk. About 140 adults at higher risk for colorectal cancer added walnuts to their diet for a month. Researchers measured changes in gut bacteria, inflammation, and substances in urine and stool to see if walnuts might help protect the colon.
