NCT ID NCT01071044
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether lisdexamfetamine dimesylate (Vyvanse), a drug used for ADHD, can help with cognitive impairment and fatigue in adults with chronic fatigue syndrome. Twenty-six participants were randomly assigned to receive either Vyvanse or a placebo for six weeks. The researchers measured changes in executive function and fatigue levels to see if the drug offered any benefit.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
lisdexamfetamine dimesylate (Vyvanse)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a treatment for the cognitive problems and fatigue that often come with chronic fatigue syndrome.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study with only 26 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Stimulants like Vyvanse can cause side effects such as increased heart rate, anxiety, or insomnia.
