Virtual reality eases fear of shock therapy
NCT ID NCT04291196
Summary
This study is testing whether a virtual reality (VR) education session can help reduce anxiety in patients about to undergo electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Researchers are comparing the VR experience to the standard preparation of talking with a psychiatrist. They will measure anxiety, knowledge, heart rate, and blood pressure to see if the immersive VR session is more effective at calming patients before their procedure.
