NCT ID NCT07475650

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether using virtual reality (VR) glasses for 30 minutes each evening could improve sleep quality, reduce anxiety, and stabilize vital signs in intensive care patients with COPD. Fifty patients were split into two groups: one received VR sessions for a week, the other received standard care. Sleep and anxiety were measured using standard scales, and vital signs were tracked before and after each session.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to help ICU patients with COPD sleep better and feel less anxious during their hospital stay.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study with only 50 participants. The results may not apply to all COPD patients or other hospital settings. The effect may be modest and not a substitute for medical treatment.
