Deepfake doctor videos boost heart patient adherence?

NCT ID NCT07210073

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether video education using deepfake technology—where an AI replicates the patient's own doctor's voice—could improve blood pressure monitoring and medication adherence in 218 adults with both ischemic heart disease and hypertension. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either the video education or standard care, and adherence was tracked over 30 days. The goal was to see if a personalized, low-cost intervention could help patients better manage their condition at home.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Video education using deepfake technology

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple, low-cost way to help people with heart disease and high blood pressure better manage their condition at home.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study with 218 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The intervention is behavioral, not a drug, so its impact on actual health outcomes may be limited.
