Heart failure drug gap revealed in new study

NCT ID NCT07281014

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at why standard heart failure medications may not completely block the hormone aldosterone, which can affect salt and water balance. Researchers will give 20 people with stable heart failure either the drug spironolactone or a placebo, then measure how their bodies handle salt. The goal is to understand the biology behind current treatment limits, not to test a new therapy.
