NCT ID NCT01471808
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 34 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding oral diabetes drugs (metformin/pioglitazone or sitagliptin) to a short-term insulin pump can improve long-term blood sugar control in people newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. 264 participants were followed for one year to see how many could achieve remission (no need for diabetes medication). The goal was to find the best combination to preserve the body's own insulin-making cells.
