Thyroid levels may influence fertility treatment outcomes

NCT ID NCT07449260

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at whether the level of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) in the blood affects the success of a fertility treatment called ICSI. Researchers measured TSH in 180 women on day 2-3 of their menstrual cycle and then tracked egg retrieval, fertilization, and pregnancy rates. The goal was to see if TSH levels are linked to better or worse outcomes.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If TSH levels are found to affect ICSI success, this could lead to better screening before fertility treatment.

What could go wrong

This is a completed observational study, not a treatment trial. It only looks for a link, so it cannot prove cause and effect.
