Zapping the brain to save memories: Alzheimer's study tests new approach

NCT ID NCT04294888

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study explored whether a non-invasive technique called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) could improve memory in healthy older adults and those with mild memory problems due to Alzheimer's. Researchers used TMS to stimulate brain networks linked to memory and measured changes with brain scans and memory tests. The study was stopped early and included only 4 participants, so results are very limited.
