Tape trick: could sticky strips boost breathing in obesity?
NCT ID NCT07012967
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether applying kinesiology tape to the chest and back can improve lung function, breathing muscle strength, and sleep quality in people who are overweight or obese. Researchers will measure breathing tests and sleep scores in 36 adults over four weeks. The tape is designed to support the diaphragm and may help counteract the breathing difficulties linked to excess weight.

kinesiology tape
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to help people with obesity breathe easier and sleep better.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 36 participants. The effects may be minor or not last long, and the tape might not help everyone.
