Hands-On healing: could touch or reflexology soothe menopause and sleep woes?

NCT ID NCT07767318

First seen Aug 17, 2026 · Last updated Aug 17, 2026

Summary

This trial tests whether therapeutic touch or foot reflexology can improve sleep quality and ease menopausal symptoms in postmenopausal women who lived through the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes. About 155 women will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two therapies or to a control group. Over four weeks, researchers will track changes in sleep and menopausal symptoms to see if these gentle, drug-free approaches offer relief.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Therapeutic Touch and foot reflexology are complementary therapies being tested for their effects on sleep quality and menopausal symptoms.
What this could lead to
If effective, these drug-free therapies could offer a simple, non-invasive way to improve sleep and reduce menopausal discomfort in women after a major stressor like an earthquake.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial, and results may not apply to all women. The therapies' benefits may be due to placebo effects, and individual responses can vary.
