Testosterone levels linked to brain health in new genetic analysis

NCT ID NCT04743466

First seen Feb 20, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at whether low testosterone levels increase the risk of dementia, depression, and anxiety. Researchers will analyze genetic data from large biobanks to see if certain gene variants linked to lower testosterone are also tied to these mental health conditions. The goal is to understand long-term effects of hormone therapy, not to test a new treatment. Only one participant is enrolled, using existing data.
