New hope against stomach bug in Antibiotic-Resistant region
NCT ID NCT06382493
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares two treatments for H. pylori infection, a common stomach bug. One uses a newer drug called tegoprazan, while the other uses a standard proton pump inhibitor. The trial will enroll 400 adults in South Korea, where antibiotic resistance makes treatment difficult. The goal is to see which approach clears the infection more effectively.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Tegoprazan
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a more effective treatment option for H. pylori infection in regions with high antibiotic resistance.
What could go wrong
This is a single-center trial with 400 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The study is early and does not yet prove long-term benefits.
