First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tested a new, more precise way to perform dental surgery on infected tooth roots. Using a 3D-printed guide based on CT scans, surgeons aimed to remove infection more accurately and with less damage. The trial involved 70 adults with persistent root infections who could not be treated with standard root canal therapy. The goal was to see if this guided approach improved patients' quality of life and healing compared to traditional freehand surgery.
