One-Size-Fits-No-One: study tailors blood thinner length to prevent repeat clots
NCT ID NCT06087952
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether using a person's individual risk of another blood clot or major bleeding can help doctors decide how long they should take blood thinners after a first clot. About 600 adults who had a first deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism will fill out a questionnaire and provide a cheek swab to estimate their risks. Based on this, some will be randomly assigned to different treatment durations to see which approach works best.
