Heart pumping power may determine ventilator success

NCT ID NCT05226247

First seen May 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether the heart's pumping ability affects how well ICU patients can breathe on their own after a breathing tube. It involves 250 adults who have been on a ventilator for more than 48 hours and are ready for a breathing test. Researchers will use ultrasound to check heart function and see if it relates to lung fluid buildup during the weaning process.
