Summary

This study looks at whether the heart's pumping ability plays a role in why some patients fail to come off a mechanical ventilator. Researchers will use ultrasound to check heart and lung function before and during a breathing test in 250 intensive care patients. The goal is to better understand and predict weaning failure caused by fluid buildup in the lungs.
