Glue vs. belly tissue: which better prevents leaks after sleeve surgery?

NCT ID NCT07339020

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested two methods to strengthen the staple line during weight-loss sleeve surgery: using medical glue (cyanoacrylate) or a piece of the patient's own belly tissue (omentum). Seventy adults aged 18-65 with obesity took part. The goal was to see which method better prevents bleeding, pain, or leaks in the month after surgery. Results may help make this common surgery safer.
