First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

This study tests a brief computerized and smartphone-based program designed to help regular cannabis users with Cannabis Use Disorder better handle emotional stress. The goal is to see if the intervention reduces distress intolerance and cannabis use compared to a health education program. Eighty participants will be followed for four months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

behavioral intervention (computerized distress tolerance training with smartphone support)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a low-cost, accessible tool to help people with Cannabis Use Disorder manage stress and reduce their cannabis use.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with only 80 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention is behavioral and may not work for everyone.
