Heart attack patients may ditch daily pills, major trial investigates

NCT ID NCT04769362

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether people who have had a heart attack but do not have heart failure can safely stop taking beta-blockers after at least one year. About 2,540 adults will be randomly assigned to either continue or stop their beta-blocker medication. The goal is to see if stopping is just as safe as continuing, by tracking major heart problems like death, another heart attack, or hospitalization for heart failure.
