Can treating sleep apnea help control atrial fibrillation? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT06263608

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a structured program to find and treat obstructive sleep apnea can reduce the amount of time people with atrial fibrillation spend in an irregular heart rhythm. About 209 adults with AF will use a home sleep test and a Fitbit smartwatch to monitor their heart. If sleep apnea is found, they will receive standard treatment (usually CPAP) and be followed for three months to see if their AF burden improves.
