Which therapy works better for sciatica? small trial pits mobilization against traction
NCT ID NCT07641972
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two physical therapy methods for people with lumbar radiculopathy (a pinched nerve in the lower back causing leg pain). Thirty adults aged 25 to 50 with moderate disability will receive either spinal mobilization with leg movement or mechanical traction for four weeks. Researchers will measure changes in pain, mobility, and daily function to see which approach works better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Spinal mobilization with leg movement (Mulligan technique) and mechanical lumbar traction
What this could lead to
If this trial shows one technique is better, it could point toward a more effective physical therapy approach for managing lumbar radiculopathy symptoms.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It compares two existing treatments, so no breakthrough is expected.
