Can nerve flossing ease sciatica? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT07646379

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a technique called neural flossing to a standard spinal mobilization can better relieve pain and disability in people with lumbar radiculopathy (a pinched nerve in the lower back causing leg pain). Thirty-six adults aged 30-50 with radiating leg pain will be split into two groups: one gets spinal mobilization alone, the other gets spinal mobilization plus neural flossing. The goal is to see which approach improves pain, range of motion, and daily function more.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Spinal mobilization with leg movement and neural flossing technique
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a more effective physical therapy approach for reducing pain and improving mobility in people with lumbar radiculopathy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 36 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The techniques are manual therapies, and benefits may vary.
