Heart shield after pregnancy: statin trial targets lasting damage

NCT ID NCT06632379

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether taking atorvastatin (a statin) for 3 months after childbirth can reduce the long-term risk of heart disease in women who had high blood pressure disorders during pregnancy. 76 postpartum women will receive either atorvastatin or a placebo, and their cardiovascular risk scores will be measured. The goal is to see if this short-term treatment can improve heart health years later.
