Sound waves could replace risky brain biopsies for deadly tumors

NCT ID NCT05281731

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests sonobiopsy, a noninvasive technique that uses focused ultrasound to release tumor DNA into the bloodstream for easier detection. About 40 adults with suspected glioblastoma will undergo the procedure before standard surgery. The goal is to see if this method can reliably identify tumor mutations without the need for a surgical biopsy.
