New sling aims to stop shoulder pain in stroke survivors

NCT ID NCT04028999

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tested a custom-made shoulder sling (EO31) in 25 adults who had a stroke within the last 6 months. The goal was to see if the sling could prevent shoulder pain and other complications. Researchers measured success using a goal-setting scale and pain scores. This is a small, early trial, so results are preliminary.

Active substance

EO31 shoulder sling (custom-made shoulder support device)

What this could lead to

If effective, this sling could help prevent shoulder pain and complications after a stroke, improving recovery and quality of life.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early study with only 25 participants and no comparison group. Results may not apply to all stroke survivors, and the sling may not prevent all shoulder issues.
