First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This Mayo Clinic study tests whether adding low-intensity shockwave therapy to Xiaflex injections can further reduce penile curvature in men with Peyronie's disease. Sixty men with stable symptoms and curvature between 30 and 90 degrees will receive both treatments. The goal is to see if the combination improves bother, sexual function, and the need for surgery.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum (Xiaflex) and low-intensity shockwave therapy

What this could lead to

If it works, this combination could offer a non-surgical way to better straighten the penis and improve sexual function for men with Peyronie's disease.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial with only 60 participants. The shockwave therapy may not add any benefit over Xiaflex alone, and results may not apply to all patients.
