Liver study aims to make cancer drug safer for patients with liver disease

NCT ID NCT07102095

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at how moderate liver problems change the way the body handles sevabertinib, an experimental cancer drug for tumors with HER2 mutations. About 20 people—10 with liver impairment and 10 healthy volunteers—will take a single dose and have their blood levels measured. The goal is to see if liver disease affects drug exposure, so doctors can adjust doses for cancer patients with liver issues.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Sevabertinib (BAY 2927088)

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could help doctors decide the right dose of sevabertinib for cancer patients with liver problems, making the drug safer and more effective for them.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, small study with only 20 people, so results may not apply to all patients. The drug is still experimental, and liver impairment might change drug levels in unpredictable ways.
