Gentle nerve stretch may ease sciatica pain without drugs

NCT ID NCT07458399

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will test whether a gentle nerve-sliding technique can reduce pain, improve function, and help balance in people with chronic leg pain from a pinched nerve in the lower back (lumbar radiculopathy). Twenty-eight adults with symptoms lasting 3 to 18 months will receive either standard physical therapy or standard therapy plus the nerve-sliding exercise. Researchers will measure pain sensitivity, disability, and balance before and after treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
sciatic nerve neurodynamic sliding technique
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, non-drug way to ease leg pain and improve daily function for people with lumbar radiculopathy.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early study (28 people) with no comparison group, so results may not apply widely. The technique may not provide lasting relief.
