First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether an online program called SCI&U, which pairs people with trained peer health coaches, can help those recently discharged from inpatient rehab after a spinal cord injury. Participants will have up to 14 one-hour video sessions covering health topics like bladder care, pain, and stress management. Researchers will measure emotional distress and self-management skills over 6 to 12 months.

Active substance
web-based peer health coaching program
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a practical way to support people with spinal cord injury as they transition home, improving emotional well-being and self-care skills.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 76 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The program relies on internet access and motivation, which may limit its reach.
