First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested a very small balloon catheter (Sapphire 3) in 170 people with completely blocked heart arteries (chronic total occlusion). Doctors used the balloon to open the blockage before placing a stent. The main goal was to see if the balloon could be safely delivered, inflated, and removed without causing serious damage. Participants were followed for 24 hours after the procedure.
