Could a common heart pill help those with artificial valves?
NCT ID NCT07192341
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether the drug sacubitril/valsartan (Entresto) can improve heart function in people who have a prosthetic (artificial) heart valve and heart failure with reduced pumping ability. About 220 adults will either get the drug plus standard care, or standard care alone. The main goal is to see if their heart failure symptoms improve by at least one grade on a standard scale.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- sacubitril/valsartan (Entresto)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a new treatment option for people with prosthetic heart valves who also have heart failure, potentially improving their heart function and daily life.
- What could go wrong
- This is a relatively small, early-stage trial (220 participants) and not yet a large Phase 3 study. The drug may not work better than standard therapy, and side effects like low blood pressure or kidney issues are possible.
