New dental sealer could improve root canal healing
NCT ID NCT03732170
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares two types of dental sealers used during root canal treatment: TotalFill (a bioceramic sealer) and AH Plus. The goal is to see which one leads to better healing of infections at the tooth root tip. 170 teeth from adults at a dental clinic in Singapore are being studied, with X-rays and pain scores used to track outcomes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
TotalFill® Bioceramic sealer and AH plus® sealer (dental sealers used during root canal treatment)
What this could lead to
If TotalFill works better, it could improve healing of tooth infections after root canals, reducing the need for retreatment.
What could go wrong
This is a single-center trial with 170 teeth, so results may not apply to everyone. The study is not yet complete, and the difference between sealers may be small.
