Heart surgery aftermath: new study seeks to predict dangerous rhythm disorder

NCT ID NCT07625033

First seen Jun 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 05, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study will observe 918 adults having scheduled heart surgery to find out what increases or decreases the chance of developing atrial fibrillation (a fast, irregular heartbeat) after the operation. The goal is to identify risk and protective factors, including newer anesthesia techniques like stellar ganglion blockade. No new treatments are being tested; instead, researchers will analyze routine care data to improve future prevention.
