Remote exercise program aims to boost chemo completion in cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07596732

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a home-based exercise program can help people with gastrointestinal or lung cancer handle chemotherapy better. Up to 120 participants will be randomly assigned to either an aerobic and resistance exercise group or a stretching group. All activities are done remotely using Bluetooth devices and home equipment, with weekly trainer check-ins. The goal is to see if exercise improves how much chemotherapy patients can receive without needing dose reductions.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

exercise

What this could lead to

If it works, this could show that a simple home exercise program helps people complete more of their chemotherapy with fewer dose reductions.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 120 participants. The stretching group is a comparison, not a true placebo, and results may not apply to all cancer types or treatment settings.
